UPL and Help for the Notary Public
Something
I’m finding quite interesting. Especially for those states whose notarial laws
and/or handbook are extremely vague. The Secretary of State office approves the
commission application, displays a notarial handbook that may or may not reflect
all the notarial laws, and administers disciplinary actions of the notary
public.
Contact the SOS
to ask for guidance on notarial duties and you will likely get the answer to
contact an attorney. Interesting that someone in that office has developed a
handbook which is an interpretation of the law yet when asked to clarify
something in notarial law they say they either 1) don’t know the answer; 2)
cannot render legal advice. Well who wrote the handbook and who can provide a
service to the notary public acting as a public official of the State?

Response to Eliminating the Notary Signing Agent
In response to the elimination of the NSA as per the article shown below: LOL! I
doubt the tradition of the notary public will be eliminated quite so easily. It
will take only one predatory lender for there to be a lawsuit that will set a
precedent against the use of a POA. Funny how quickly the industry can tend to
eliminate all the safeguards in place. The notary is used as an 'unbiased
party'. So if the lender becomes the notary through use of a POA, where is the
unbiased to pro...read

PRICING...every NSA's dilemma!
Ask any notary how they go about setting pricing and you’ll get a different
answer for each of the many notaries you ask. Nothing seems to be a greater
bone of contention than the setting of prices and perhaps my wisdom on the
subject will bring nothing new to the table... or maybe it will . I spent many
years working in an industry where pricing was dictated to me ...in the
instances where I was able to discount or be creative, I always drove sales
higher and turned t...

Proper Etiquette
The scheduler can give you work or choose to pass you by on a list.
As with may things the negative seems to be remembered more often than the
positive, so when you decide to have a bad attitude with a scheduler they may
just remember you next time and next time and next time. If you do not accept
the fee they are offering, simply tell them calmly that you cannot and for what
reason. Tell them you are sorry you can't help them out and you understand they
have a job to do, as well. I often try to work with them if we can meet
somewhere in the middle on fee. I do not suggest a flat out no with no
explanation in any instance.
